The scenic route takes you through the heart of Cambridge passing many landmarks, historic University College buildings and along the River Cam. We are inviting all Cambridge Colleges to enter into our ‘Participation Champions’ competition. The race will take place, as usual, from the punt shed at Darwin Island (Darwin College). The date is Sunday 17 June, starting at 5.30pm. We race from Darwin Island to Trinity Punts. Cam River Health Survey

My name is Max, I’m a PhD student at the Cambridge Vet school. A group of grad student friends and I are currently doing a citizen science project: our aim is to monitor (via DNA sequencing) the Cam’s microbes associated with infections regularly obtained by rowers, swimmers, anglers, punters. With May Bumps starting now, this topic becomes more relevant than ever! Glucose Study

Psychology experiment - earn £7 for 30-45min! I am currently running a study looking to investigate the impact of glucose on cognitive performance. The study involves consuming a 330ml glass of Appletiser®, and completing some questionnaires and other short tasks. It should last between 30–45 minutes, and you would be reimbursed with £7 for your time and expenses. You can take part if you: have not taken part in my previous experiment; are aged 18 or over; are in good physical health; have English as a first language/equivalent level of fluency; are prepared to consume a drink that contains sugar; have no known allergies to the ingredients in Appletiser®.

Eating Disorder Study

Do you ever lose control of your eating or binge eat? Researchers in the Department of Psychiatry are inviting women with eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa with bingeing/purging) to participate in a brain imaging study on mood and eating behaviour. The study involves two visits to Addenbrooke’s Hospital: one screening visit, lasting about 4 hours, and one overnight visit, lasting about 36 hours. At the screening, we will collect a blood sample, measure your body composition and ask you some questions about your health history.

Participants needed for brain stimulation study

Our lab at the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge is currently looking for participants in psychological research. The purpose of this study is to examine the brain’s mechanisms of 3D depth perception. Most of the experiment will take place over separate days in the Department of Psychology (Downing Site, CB2 3EB). During the experiment, you will be asked to perform a visual task. You will receive brain stimulation to investigate the role of certain brain networks in visual perception.

Welfare Survey Outcomes

General There will be at least 2 Welfare Events in Chad’s per term (70% of people wanted to see this). Have contacted Headspace trying to get a College subscription as 50% of people wanted this. Lucy is having a phone call with Headspace on Tuesday 27th March. To find out more about Headspace follow this link We looked into getting a jar of condoms and sweets in JCR and Chad’s, like the MCR.

BlueSci 2018 Mental Wellbeing Survey
